Amaan Ahmmad, the son of Bangladeshi parents, died yesterday after a hospital worker allegedly gave the baby a lethal dose of antibiotics.
Ahmmad went to the emergency room after his parents noticed he had high fever. After medical staff determined that he had symptoms of pneumonia, one relative said, they gave the child an IV drip. According to cousin Jhora Akther, instead of giving Ahmmad 80 mg of the antibiotic Zithromax, he received 500 mg of the drug.
Further investigations are in progress.
