One of the five injured workers in yesterday’s building collapse has died. Three of the other workers are in stable condition at Lutheran Medical Center and a fourth declined treatment.
A preliminary view of the 5-story apartment’s damage revealed that fresh concrete was improperly poured from the top to the bottom.
At a briefing Tuesday evening, Robert LiMandri, commissioner of the Buildings Department, said, “They were pouring concrete in the wrong sequence, and we believe that that is a major contributor to this collapse today.”
