The Brooklyn Philharmonic Looks for a New Audience

Home Brooklyn Life The Brooklyn Philharmonic Looks for a New Audience

Two years after nearly going dormant, the Brooklyn Philharmonic is having a resurgence by playing to audiences in multiple neighborhoods across the borough. Under the leadership of artistic director Alan Pierson, the orchestra has used hip-hop artists, cartoons and multimedia components to show a different side of the philharmonic. At their Downtown Village concert in the Roulette Theater, the orchestra was joined by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus for a concert that explored the rise of modern Brooklyn from the building of the Brooklyn Bridge to the BQE.

Produced by Gillian Mohney and Khadijah Carter.
