Brooklynites Measure Their Economic Status

Friday’s monthly jobs report is just one of many measures of the state of the American economy. And while the presidential candidates, economists, journalists, pundits, employers and job seekers will seek meaning in those numbers – as they do with the Dow, housing starts, and consumer confidence – we decided to take a more intimate look.

The Brooklyn Ink set across the borough to ask people their personal economic indicators. We learned that beer, nose rings, collages, and hamburgers can matter as much as inventories and manufacturing output.
