The housing projects surrounding Hicks Street loom dark and silent on the Thursday after Sandy. In the midst of the darkness, Red Hook Initiative is a bustling center of activity. Residents line up to receive the food, batteries and other necessities provided by volunteers. Brooklyn Ink photographers captured some of the stories of those still waiting for the lights to come back on.
