Near the intersection of 130th Street & Newport Avenue in the Far Rockaways, Hurricane Sandy tore down electrical wires and caused a fire that took out several houses, cars, and a pub. First responders had trouble reaching the scene because of the flood waters, which were roughly six feet high at the time of the fire. According to residents, everyone survived.
