SHoP Architects Reveal New Plan for Williamsburg Waterfront

Home Live Wire SHoP Architects Reveal New Plan for Williamsburg Waterfront

The SHoP Architects group revealed new plans for development revolving around the old Domino Sugar plant on the banks of the East River. The development, next to the Williamsburg Bridge, will be a mixture of office space, housing and retail. SHoP touted the new design as an improvement over the original, city-approved concept of 2010 due to the addition of 60 percent more publicly-accesible open space. The most striking element in the plan is a lofty building with a sizable “donut-hole:” two towers rise from a common base, connected only by a small number of floors at the top of the structure.
