The city has paid for a $2 million upgrade to the lights on the Parachute Jump in a project spearheaded by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Coney Island’s main ride operator, Zamperla USA, has installed 8.000 new LED lights, up from the previous 450, in order to produce pulsing light displays and shows. It’s speculated that the display will be visible from space.
