The Satmar sect of Hasidic Jews in Williamsburg is considering buying the massive armory on Eighth Avenue. The armory was built for the National Guard in the late 1800s but has been vacant for the last two years. The Satmars hope to use the 165,000-square-foot building for schools and community space to alleviate some of their rapid growing pains as their population balloons.
