Brooklynites Oppose Possible Bensonhurst Trash Transfer Facility

Bensonhurst residents gathered Sunday to oppose a plan that would bring trash to the neighborhood by truck to be transferred to a barge on Gravesend Bay. They worry about the environmental impact of dredging the bay to make room for barges. The facility would also be near a children’s amusement park. Activists have taken the city to court.
