A Changing Brooklyn

A Changing Brooklyn

Brooklyn has always been a dynamic borough filled with a diverse population, but the process of change has perhaps never been as rapid and deep as it has been in recent years and months. To get a feel for at least some of these changes, our reporters fanned out to several Brooklyn neighborhoods, looking for examples. In Prospect Heights, The Way Station, a Doctor Who-themed bar, gives nerds, music lovers, and local residents a “judgement-free” place to enjoy a drink. In Bushwick, an urban farm initiative uses food and sustainable agriculture to educate and empower the local youth. As rent rates on Court Street in Boerum Hill continue to rise, long-standing small businesses are fighting to survive. And Gowanus continues moving away from its industrial past through a shuffleboard club. We hope you enjoy reading all of these stories about “A Changing Brooklyn.”
