Following the news of Penn State, Poly Prep is accused of allegedly covering up their own child sex abuse scandal that spanned four decades. Nine former Poly Prep athletes filed a federal lawsuit claiming that they were sexually abused by the football coach, Phil Foglietta, from the 1960’s up until the early 1980’s. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs say that they had informed school officials of the sexual abuse, but no action was ever taken, and were allegedly told they would be disciplined or expelled if they reported the abuse.
Poly Prep’s headmaster David Harman said the school is forming an advisory committee to bolster its sex-abuse prevention policy.
