Larry Goldstein, 62, shot and critically wounded one of two men that forced their way into his Mill Basin home early Wednesday morning, the Wall Street Journal is reporting. Goldstein was startled awake by a loud noise and brought his .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver down to the kitchen where he found two men with what appeared to be real guns; they were later found to be fake. Goldstein fired three shots, and hit Alexander Manigat, 30, in the chest and arm. He is listed in critical condition and has faces a number of charges, including robbery in the first degree. Goldstein has not been charged because state law allows “deadly force” when a home has been entered with force.
