The weapon reportedly used by a gunman who shot and killed Mervyn Johnson, a beloved Crown Heights baker, was found stashed on a lightbox near Sterling Street, WABC 7 reports. Johnson was purportedly walking home from his West Indian bakery on Nostrand Avenue when he was shot in the head on Lefferts and Brooklyn Avenues Tuesday night. Johnson’s brother believes the murder is connected to an incident last week in which Johnson was robbed of $50 in his apartment lobby. His brother maintains that Johnson was killed because he knew who the offender was. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
