An Orange County grand jury indicted Michael Mele for the murder of Laura Garza, a Bay Ridge woman after leaving a Manhattan nightclub in 2008, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Mele, a 25-year-old convicted sex offender, was indicted on two counts of second-degree murder and one count each of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter. Garza, an aspiring dancer and Mexican immigrant who grew up in Texas, reportedly left the Marquee nightclub in Chelsea two years ago almost to the day, where she was last seen in Mele’s SUV. The case had not seen many leads in the past years, until Wednesday’s surprise indictment.
