Community Board 2 voted in favor of a “skyscraper historic district” that would designate certain buildings in the area as worthy of historic preservation, according to The Brooklyn Paper. Many property owners in the district, which would comprise parts of Livingston, Court and Montague streets, opposed the decision, arguing that renovations and repairs to those buildings would cost more to keep them up to landmark standards. The vote narrowly passed, with a majority of 16 to 10.
