Egyptians were calling it “Day of Departure” — the 11th day of protests against the rule of President Hosni Mubarek.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles from Tahrir Square, the thousands of members of Brooklyn’s Egyptian population were watching the events with particular urgency.

The staff of the Ink is out across the borough today talking to residents of Egyptian descent as they react to the news from abroad. Ink staffers will be live tweeting details and photos from scenes from across the borough during the day, chronicling the reaction of Brooklyn’s Egyptian residents.
