Jason Arbeeny, a NYPD detective of 14 years, was found guilty of planting crack cocaine on two innocent people. Yvelisse DeLeon, one of the victims, stated during his trial that in 2007 Arbeeny placed a small bag of drugs in the car she and her boyfriend were traveling in one day.

Before the conviction, Justice Gustin L. Reichbach criticized the NYPD for the corruption that seems to be spreading around the department. Arbeeny’s case is just one of several acts of police misconduct in Brooklyn and other parts of the City.

Arbeeny’s sentencing is scheduled for January.
