Feeling the Monday blues? Hopefully, the prospect of a yummy Thanksgiving dinner and Black Friday shopping spree will lift your spirits a little!

Before we bring you today’s news, here is a summary of major events that happened in the borough over the weekend:

Sri Lankan immigrant Nimala Randunu, 54, was beaten to death at a porn shop at around 12.30am on Saturday night. The police believe that Randunu was assaulted in a botched robbery by a Hispanic suspect, caught on a surveillance video that the authorities released the next day. The shop, Video Xcitement Inc., is located on 3rd Avenue near 25th Street.

The inaugural Brooklyn Marathon was held in Prospect Park on Sunday morning. More than 350 people took part in the 26.2 miles marathon that was organized by NYCRuns. Carroll Gardens’ John Paul Montes, 24, won the marathon with a time of 2 hours, 43 minutes. Kelly Gillen, 29, of Manhattan was the fastest female runner in the marathon, finishing in 3 hours, 14 minutes. Watch a video clip of the marathon on NY1 here.

A Bushwick tire shop owner was fatally shot on Sunday. The victim, 58-year-old Carlos Rosario, was shot three times by a gunman, who was described as a black man about 40 years old and 6-feet tall.
