Manny Voigt

Manny Voigt, 24, knows he’s doing well if he has the time and money to do whatever he wants. That’s his measure of the economy. And right now the economy is working for him.

He wants to go surfing on weekends and he wants a job that he feels comfortable leaving whenever it becomes monotonous.

Voigt is a nutritionist, an occupation that works well for him presently because it pays well and allows him the freedom to pursue his ventures. But he probably won’t be there forever, he says.

Voigt wanted to be a lawyer, but he decided that while that career might make him monetarily successful, it wouldn’t make him happy. “I’ve come to realize that money isn’t everything. I am not going to spend the rest of my life in an office, working like a slave,” says Voigt.

Voigt, who was born and raised in Greenpoint, would feel unsuccessful if his life revolved around work. As long as his job is rewarding and pays him enough, he is prospering.
