Police Seek Gunman After Van Driver Shot and Killed in Brooklyn

A van driver was shot and killed in  Prospect Lefferts Gardens Tuesday afternoon. The shooting occurred around 1 p.m., with the driver crashing into a row of parked cars on Hawthorne Street immediately after he was shot. Witnesses described the shooter as a black male wearing a white t-shirt. Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field Opened 100 Years Ago Today

Ebbets Field, home to the Dodgers when their title still started with Brooklyn, opened its doors for the first time 100 years ago today. Demolished in 1960, Ebbets Field was the sight of the first break in baseball’s color barrier, with Jackie Robinson taking the field as a Dodger April 15, 1947. Read more at Smithsonianmag.com.

Brooklyn 2nd Most Expensive U.S. City

For the seventh year in a row, Brooklyn made number two on the Council for Community and Economic Research’s annual list of America’s most expensive cities. Police Seek Armed Robbery Suspects in Brooklyn

The NYPD is looking for two suspects who robbed a Flatbush department store on Friday night. The two men brandished handguns when they entered the Get Set sports apparel store on Norstrand Avenue at 5:50 p.m. Friday. They took clothing and an undetermined amount of money, no one was injured. New York Aquarium on Coney Island to Reopen

New York will finally get part of its aquarium back on May 25, seven months after it was slammed by Hurricane Sandy. Not all of the 14-acre aquarium on Coney Island  will reopen but many exhibits will, including Glover’s Reef and exhibits of Africa’s Great Lakes and the Amazon. Read more at abclocal.com.
