School bus hits and kills 4-year-old
A yellow school bus struck a 4-year-old boy at the intersection of 13th Avenue and 49th Street in Sunset Park just after 8 a.m. Amrom Altman, a resident of Sunset Park, died at the scene. Police identified the driver only as a white male, age 32.
Flying manhole cover injures two Con-Edison workers
Two Con-Edison workers were injured, one critically, when an underground explosion flung a manhole cover at the intersection of Broadway and Hart Street in Bushwick just after 3 a.m. The cover struck one worker in the head; he was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he is in critical condition.
Unidentified man stabbed in Prospect Heights
Police responding to a 911 call at 9:25 Tuesday night found a man on the third floor of 388 St. Marks Avenue with stab wounds to his torso. He was rushed to Kings Country Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Coney Island fire victim identified; police make arrest
The NYPD has identified the victim of yesterday’s fire at 2970 W. 24th St as 11-year-old Tavon Turpin. Police also announced the arrest of Melinda Mclain, 59, on charges of reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Boy, 11, killed in fire
An 11-year-old boy was killed in a fire on West 24th Street on Coney Island early this afternoon. Police responding to the fire found the boy unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
